Getting Started
As a tabletop roleplaying game, the first step in starting a campaign of LoA is assembling a group of friends that would like to join you. One player will play as the game master, or GM, while the rest of the players make up a party of characters that experience the story created by the GM. Generally 3-5 players in the party is an optimal amount, however you can play with as few as two or as many as the GM is comfortable managing. It's best to pick a GM who has some experience in running a tabletop RPG before, but this is not required. Before meeting for the first game session, the GM will want to look over the rulebook and GM Guide to get a feel for the mechanics and flavor of Auzu. Note that this site is currently in its beta and some pages may still be under construction!
Game sessions can be played either in person or online, whatever the group as a whole agrees upon. The group should also determine how often they would like to meet and how long each session should be. It’s always best that everyone is on the same page in terms of what is expected for the campaign. If playing virtually, Discord is a great tool to use for meeting and keeping a text log of what happens each session. At the time of writing this, LoA is not currently integrated with Roll20 - if you would like to see it there someday, when creating a new campaign, use LoA as a tag, choose “Other Games” as the game you are playing, and write Legends of Auzu in the description.
Everything needed to play LoA can be found through this site for free; no purchases or physical media are necessary. To delve into the lore, creatures and geography of the world, explore the wiki and maps found under the World menu. For a streamlined list of creatures and creature stats, check the four categories under Denizens. If you would like access to the adventure modules and additional content, or simply would like to support the project, please consider joining our Patreon.
If you are ready to begin, all players can start creating their characters by following the steps outlined in the Player Guide! (The PG is currently under construction - in the meantime you can use the Character Creation in the rulebook!)
