Summons

Summons AvatarSummons Avatar

A summon refers to any entity that can be summoned by an effect available to a character, such as a spell, item or feat. Below are all of the summons with unique stats available to player characters via class spells. Summons like the alchemist's homunculus or necromancer's resurrect are not listed due to their stats varying between each summon.

Summons are categorized into three labels: summoned creature, undead minion, and unique summon. The label of a summon is the first text listed in its Other section. Below are the group details for summoned creatures from the beastmaster class and undead minions from the necromancer class. More information on the specifics of the spells themselves can be found on each respective class page.

Should a character find themself allied with a friendly Bokaroki that the GM determines is loyal to them, they are treated as if they are a summoned creature and the player has control of that creature. Until that point of trust is met, the GM controls the creature.

Summons: A character may use their own Might, Will, and Fate for any entity that they summon, including spending Will to resist for them (using whichever character's level is higher) or Final Fate to save them. If the character does not share a sensory link with the summon, they may only do this if the summon is within line of sight. A summon cannot spend stats for the summoner, and may only use their own stats for their own rolls, resists, or Final Fates (rolled by the player that controls them). Summons do not provide crafting materials.

Summoned Creatures: All summoned creatures have one standard action per round on the beastmaster’s turn. If a creature performs their actions then is replaced by another creature of the same type (or same spell) on the same turn, the newly-summoned replacement cannot perform any actions that turn. If a summoned creature does not die, they gain experience equal to whatever the beastmaster gains. In this way they can level up. When a creature levels, they may increase two battle and/or roleplaying stats following all the same rules as found in the leveling section for characters. Once Evolution is learned, Beast allies, Dire Beast allies, and Giant Eagle allies may learn Wereform tagged spells when they level, following all normal rules.

During their downtime, instead of improving their own knacks, a beastmaster may train a summoned creature to learn a knack instead. If a creature dies, summoning a new one will always bring in a creature with stats equal to the spell description, with all the unique improvements on the former creature, such as improved stats from leveling, lost. Summoned creatures are explained in more detail under the beastmaster class page.

Undead Minions: All undead minions automatically pass Courage checks and cannot experience exhaustion, use or require Stamina, or gain experience points. They have one standard action per round on the necromancer’s turn. If a minion performs its actions then is replaced by another minion of the same type (or same spell) on the same turn, the newly-summoned replacement cannot perform any actions that turn. The necromancer does not share any sensory link with their undead minions. Once out of sight, the necromancer may still command the minion to perform actions, but cannot command on knowledge they do not have and will not know the outcome of any actions until checked.

A necromancer must be conscious for their undead minions to stay animated. A necromancer may keep the same undead minion raised indefinitely so long as they recast the spell every 24 hours, do not fall asleep, and the minion is not destroyed by other means. Undead minions must be summoned within line of sight standing atop natural-forming ground where a body could possibly be buried (but no physical body is required to be there if the caster has undead tokens). The space must be empty, outside of any enemy’s reach, and large enough that the minion could stand there normally. An undead minion may be unsummoned at any time.
