Latter Kin
It is known that Bokaroki existed within Auzu before any other mortal creature, however it is not clearly understood when and how the numerous groups now known as the Latter Kin first entered this world. Myths and legends abound that each tell us a different tale, but in one regard most scholars can agree: the introduction was staggered across each species.
Records indicate that the elves of Ezerin were the first to appear on the eight continents followed by the volatile demons of Vorua. Over the next few centuries came the remaining species each at their own time, with dragonkin and chimerians being blanket terms for hybrid species developed between Latter Kin, Divergent Kin, and Bokaroki.
Through the millennia, the Latter Kin have developed and dominated many clusters of Auzu for their own. In terms of cultivating and modernizing land, they are the most prolific group by a wide margin. Though many Divergent Kin such as the ukomabi of Isun have their own advanced civilizations, it is the Latter Kin that reign supreme in this regard.Â
While some Latter Kin may live peacefully or even in partnership with Bokaroki or Divergent Kin, the majority seem to often push other non-Latter Kin out from their domains, claiming the land as their own. This has led to untold conflicts over the millennia, with some wars between certain species still bitterly raging to this day. Such relationships, whether it be in the form of predation, domestication, or even genocide, are complex and usually more unique to specific regions rather than the species themselves as a whole.
Years ago the thought of all these species intermingling with one another in a crowded town square would seem absurd, however such a sight is now common in a major metropolis or prosperous coastal city. Though the Latter Kin are young in relation to the Bokaroki and other ancient powers that reside across Auzu, their collective influence continues to grow steadily with every passing year.
Stats: Below are the base stat lines for each species. All Latter Kin have a Cognition value of 5. Their Passive Perception modifier baseline is +35, and their Passive Stealth modifier baseline is +25. Anything that adds or subtracts to these values via species are permanent, and are always applied to the modifier before it is added to the character’s current Perception or Stealth respectively. Any modifiers created by a species' size are already included in that species' description. If you are creating a character and wish to be small for your species, you may choose to be one size value lower than the value listed, which applies the following effects: Marksmanship checks targeting this size receive -1. Gain +1 base Stealth and +5 Passive Stealth.
